Love from Turkey!

My dear friend and sister, Firuzan, has made me an amazing gift which I received in the mail today! It is a gorgeous "paper doll" of me! It is made from paper mache and found objects and painted in rich jewel tones. I absolutely love it!

I met Firuzan through Flickr-we connected over the artist dolls that we both make and found that we have a lot in common. Over the last year, we have bonded and she truly feels like a sister to me. I treasure our friendship. It is truly a gift. It is amazing how people come into our lives.

Firuzan also makes gorgeous paper mache jewelry and life size sculptures that are beyond amazing. A dream of mine would be to visit her studio on the coast of Turkey and to meet her and her 2 lovely daughters!

I love Parrish Relics and the Art of Lisa Gill!

I love, love, love the work of Jen Parrish of Parrish Relics http://parrishrelics.com/

I first found her work when looking for jewelry for my wedding when I googled "Gothic Jewelry"(yeah, my marriage didn't work out, but I still have my relics and a great friend in Jen too). She also made me a custom piece with a photo of my 4 little black cats which is so dear to me(I found each of them as little abandoned kittens and they are just wonderful people-Jen gets this! She donated a portion of the sale to a charity that rescues ferral cats in Greece-one of the places I used to live).

Jen is also so sweet-she introduced me to several of her friends. One friend, Lisa is an amazing seamstress and graphic designer of her own business Arteffex at http://www.arteffex.com/ and has designed my website and my business cards-fabulous! She also made me a fabulous gown based on my love of Waterhouse's "Miranda".

Through the years and many emails, we all finally got to meet which was wonderful and I met more friends who share of my love of all things Gothic, Medieval and Fairy Tale(plus, we are all crazy cat ladies!). I thought I would share some of Jen's and Lisa's work here. I am truly blessed! Who knows what surprises life has in store for you.
